Switch to Cloth Bloom & Nora Reusable Sanitary Pads

On and off over the last few years I’ve used reusable sanitary pads, I’ve made my own and bought some in the past, for much the same reasons as why I’ve used cloth nappies for my babies. Given that on average, a woman will use up to 16,800 disposable pads and tampons during her lifetime, switching to reusable product makes a HUGE difference.

Tampons, pads and panty liners generate more than 200,000 tonnes of waste per year, which end up in landfill or the sea – 200,000 tonnes of plastic filled waste, that take hundreds of years to decompose. Not only that, but the production of femcare items also has a negative effect on our environment.

Bloom & Nora are a sister company to Tots Bots, inspired by Amelia Bloomer, the early American feminist, fierce advocate and supporter of the Victorian Dress Reform; we too are encouraging women to have a cycle in comfort and style. They produce reusable sanitary pads that will jazz up that time of the month.

They make pads in four sizes {mini, midi, maxi and mighty} to suit every flow, in either Bloom or Nora fabric.

B L O O M

* natural
* super absorbent bamboo core
* come in a range of bright, vibrant colours.

N O R A

* fast drying
* stay-dry core
* come in a range of classic and stain-repellent white and floral prints

The pads themselves are fantastic. Shaped, soft to the skin, they have poppered ‘wings’ to keep them in place and are not bulky feeling at all. They’re a lot more comfortable to wear then disposable, plastic pads are.

They wash really well, I just throw mine in the machine with the rest of my washing – you get a great washing instructions card when you purchase these, which is well worth holding onto. Line dry {or airer in the winter} and they’re as good as new.

Bloom & Nora also sell a gorgeous bathroom bag to keep used pads in until you wash them {it can be popped straight in the machine too}, as well as a out and about bag – with two zippered sides for used and unused pads.

I’d definitely recommend Bloom & Nora if you’re looking to make the switch to reusable femcare products or looking for more to add to your stash. You can find out more about them and shop .
