Today we’re heading to Bangor for the day to a family funeral. We have to say goodbye to the last of the Kiddos great-grandparents. As sad as it is, I’m choosing today to remember all those good times and fun memories we have of him.

A funeral always reminds us of how fragile life is. How fleeting is this moment that we are living in. Caught up in the midst of new life, with a baby and our kiddos, moving house and planning adventures, we forget that this isn’t forever.

We take for granted all that we have and the years we have to come. Death is a stark reminder to grab life with two hands, to savour every single minute of our adventure here, to soak up our children while they are small and to not waste one precious second of this amazing life we are blessed to have.

We’ll be taking all four kiddos along to say their goodbyes, I’m a great believer in including children in death – they are far more resiliant than we give them credit for. I also think that it’s good to teach them that it’s OK to be sad, that we can feel our emotions and not have to hide them.

Tonight we’ll be traveling home to pack up the last of our belongings ready to start a brand new adventure in our new home tomorrow ?

I love the positivity of this post. I think you’re right, funerals are a great time to celebrate a life. My grandma’s funeral was both sad AND happy. In fact, I think we all laughed more than we cried. Much love. x
