Celeste Johnston Art – art print giveaway {closed}
Please
Hi Celeste! Tell us a little about yourself.
Hmmm…well, I am a mama to three great kids. I have a fourteen year old daughter, a sixteen year old son, and a twenty-one year old son. Three months ago my oldest and his girlfriend welcomed an adorable baby boy, so now I am a gramma too. Yeah!! We live in a small town in Alberta, Canada, in a historic Craftsman cottage. Our home is a wild place, always filled our pets, and children coming and going, but I love it. When I’m not caring for my family, or making art, I teach yoga and study photography.
Have you always been an artist?
When I was a girl, I thought I would grow up to be a writer. I didn’t actually begin drawing and painting until I was in my thirties. One day I just picked up some art supplies and went for it. I knew from the first canvas that this would be my passion.
Where do you draw your inspiration from?
Much of my inspiration comes from literature. I read a lot, especially books on spirituality, poetry, even fairy tales. Really though, it often seems to come out of thin air, so I carry a sketch books and pencils with me everywhere.
How do you work?
I have a hard time completing one thing at a time. Generally, I have several projects on the go at once, which, really I work on whenever I can sneak into my studio. I do look forward to one day having a more regimented work schedule though.
If you had to pick one artwork of yours, which would you choose? Your favourite, or one with the most meaning.
Oh, I guess at this moment, I would say Chakras. It was a very different piece for me. I used experimented with a lot of techniques that were new to me. What I find most special though, is that it has led me to connecting with many wonderful people, which is one of the most beautiful things about art.
What’s your strongest memory of your childhood?
Growing up in Victoria, British Columbia. I spent a great deal of time with my grandparents. I have very strong,, and deeply fond memories of walking on the beach with my grandfather. I remember him pointing out all of the different islands we could see off in the distance. We would collect sea glass, and shells, but mostly I remember the feeling of being loved unconditionally.
Celeste has been kind enough to offer a giveaway – one lucky winner gets the 8×10 print from her etsy shop of their choice! Enter below :)
