It’s Festival Season!

Festival season is beginning, and we are all so excited! I love taking my kiddos to festivals, and while we don’t get to go to as many as I would like, we usually manage two or three each year. Festivals are such a wonderful palace to take kiddos and make for a fantastic family festival. There are so many family-friendly festivals these days and have something to offer everyone from tots to teens.

We’re kicking off the season with Fire in the Mountain next week. We’ve not been before but it looks fantastic, and so many of our friends are going too, so I am certain that we will have a wonderful weekend.

We have been to the Just So Festival for the past couple of years, it is the most fantastic festival for kids. With literature, arts, theatre, dance, music, comedy and creative pursuits you’re guaranteed an amazing weekend. We love the Tribal Tournament that underpins the whole festival, we’re still undecided what tribe we’re going to be this year.  It’s such a magical weekend, and in a beautiful setting, Beastie loved the Spellbound Forest last year.

The Good Life Experience has been another festival that we’ve been to for the past couple of years too. Set on the Hawarden Estate, it’s only just up the road from us. An interesting weekend, full of adventures, food, crafts, good music, books and the great outdoors. It’s always a great end to the summer, coming in mid-September – the perfect way to see out the festival season!

I’m really hoping that we finally make it to Glastonbury next year! I went as a teenager and would love to go again, if we do I’m seriously thinking about taking advantage of the Glastonbury boutique camping in 2019!

Festivals with kiddos can seem daunting if you haven’t been before, but in my experience, it is well worth it. We all get so much out of the weekends and love the whole atmosphere of festivals. Camping is definitely an essential in my opinion – while I know some who just travel in for the days, or stay in a nearby hotel, sleeping under canvas really is a big part of the whole festival experience. Kids love being in a tent in the middle of a field, and it doesn’t have to mean totally roughing it! I like a few creature comforts when I camp – pillows and fleece blankets, fairy lights and a stove for my morning cuppa, airbeds and chairs to sit on.
