Fun, family Autumn activities

what she wore treasure hunting

As much as I love summer, and protest when it starts to leave, by October I always end up fully embracing Autumn. I love these crisp, autumn days and look forward to some of the traditions our family has created over the years. I thought I’d share a few of the things that we enjoy doing as a family in the Autumn – I can’t believe it’s this time of year again already though!

Collect Conkers
Rainbow hunting – how many different coloured leaves can you find?
Make a bug hotel
Pick blackberries and make some jam
Plant some bulbs for the spring
Go on a woodland walk
Have a bonfire
Carve a pumpkin
Bake some biscuits
Make soup for lunch
Collect pinecones to make your own firelighters
Jump in a leaf pile
Have a movie afternoon – snuggled together under a blanket
Drink hot chocolate
Play board games on a rainy day
Visit a pumpkin patch
Collect acorns and try out one of these craft ideas
Toast Marshmallows
Watch fireworks
Make birdfeeders
Make hot spiced apple juice
Go to a corn maze
Pick apples and make an apple pie
Have an autumn picnic
Make a Halloween costume
Bake your own bread
Leaf rubbings

I’d happily do any of those without small children! I absolutely love the smell of bonfires especially.

I absolutely love this list Polly! I want to bookmark all your wonderful ideas for when Elsie is a little bigger to do activities that don’t involve climbing furniture and lobbing books! x
