Review | Mixit Magazine

I remember being little and loving the excitement of a new magazine, my girlies are no different. I don’t buy them magazines very often, though I will if we’re doing a big train journey, and occasionally they’ll buy one with their pocket money. There are so many on the market now, and some of them really are rubbish, though those free gifts on the covers always pull you in. We were asked to review the new Mixit Magazine, published by DJ Murphy Publishing, that is a totally unique multi-character magazine for girls aged 4-9. They arrived in perfect timing, as last Saturday poor Miss Baya wasn’t feeling very well, so stayed home when Kiki and Beastie went out with their dad for a couple of hours. She was pleased to have something fun to cheer her up and keep her busy while sat on the sofa. The magazines came with free gifts on the cover – and they were lovely gifts – one had a dance ribbon and some lip gloss, the other stickers, cards, nail varnish, nail stickers, and files – she was very pleased with the gifts! The magazine itself features popular kids brands such as Shopkins, DC…

Review | Sanctuary Spa Wet Skin Moisture Miracle

I always have good intentions when it comes to remembering to moisturise my body after a bath or shower, I’ve a collection of half empty bottles on my dressing table to prove it. The problem I have, as a busy Mama, is by the time I’ve gotten dry, there is usually someone needing me and I have to throw on some clothes quickly – no time to think about moisturising. At least I’m not the only one, a recent Sanctuary study involving 2360 women showed that 65% don’t moisture daily and half are either ‘too busy’ or so stretched that they ‘forgot’ to do so. I’ve been testing out the new Sanctuary Spa Wet Skin Moisture Miracle/ an amazing new moisturiser that you keep in the shower and apply to wet skin! It is targeted at busy women who con’t find the time to moisturise every morning. I’ve been using it every day after my post-workout shower in the morning, and I am smitten! It smells so good, is light yet really leaves my skin feeling softer and sinks in quickly. I’m a convert – it’s saved me so much time, and has made my legs look summer ready again…

Getting ready for Just So 2017

We had so much fun at last year’s Just So festival, we’ve literally been counting down until it is time to go again this year! The kids and I had a fabulous weekend {despite the rain}, caught some great bands, practiced circus skills, took part in the tribal tournament. Even wet and soggy we had enough fun for us to want to go back. Now in it’s 8th year, the multi award-winning family arts festival offers a magical experience where art, music and literature are embedded and entwined in a beautiful and wondrous landscape. There is a broad range of musical, theatrical, and visual performances, workshops and installations all in a safe, natural and magical setting. With the festival just one month from today, and they’ve just revealed their full line up. There is so much to do, I’m not sure how we’ll fit everything in that we’ve marked as “must do’s”! We were excited to find they’ve added three new areas for 2017 – Silver Screen {cinema}, The Social Barn {food including a Jelly Fight and Insect Eating eep!} and The Week Junior Forgotten Courtyard. I’m quite eager to try out the ukelele workshop and the choir anyone can join!…

Fictional pets we’ve all dreamed about owning in real life

We all love our furry and feathered friends at home, but there’s something unique about pets on big and small screens and in storybooks that we just can’t help but want as our own. We wouldn’t mind adding a dragon, a snowy owl that can send messages or a surfing alien to our families. Here’s a list of our favourite fictional pets we’ll always dream about owning in real life. Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon Aside from the fact that we could fly on the back of Toothless – let’s just let that sink in for a second – he’s also incredibly smart and, while kind of intimidating with the whole fire-breathing thing, he’s loyal and protective. He helps prove to Hiccup’s dad that not all dragons are ferocious. Plus, he’d be really helpful for getting the kids to play-dates on time, and in style. Hedwig from the Harry Potter franchise If we’re talking winged sidekicks, Hedwig is a step above the rest. At times she’s Harry Potter’s only connection to the outside world, and when the going gets tough, she’s there to protect him every step of the way. Head to the Harry Potter Studio Tour down in…

Recipe | Vegan Choc Chip Oat Cookies

A couple of rainy days at the beginning of last week gave us the perfect excuse to stay home and enjoy some quieter days. Tuesday I was informed, was Baya’s Build-a-Bear’s birthday {and Beastie joined in with it being Pando’s birthday too}. I promised them a tea party celebration lunch – and no birthday tea party is complete without cookies – especially when it’s wet and cold outside! I whipped up these cookies in the morning and had to resist the temptation to eat them all fresh out of the oven. Nothing like a warm cookie! They’re quick and easy to make, relatively healthy {as far as cookies go} vegan, gluten free AND refined sugar-free – but most importantly, they taste SO good. Everyone said they were the best cookies we’ve ever made! I N G R E D I E N T S 170g dairy free spread 100g coconut sugar 1 tsp vanilla extract 200g gf oat flour 75g gf rolled oats 100g dairy free choc chips M E T H O D First, to make the oat flour, measure out your oats, pop in your blender and blitz into a powder. Then, cream the spread and coconut sugar…
