Mind the little moments

We’re back in lockdown here in Wales. A two-week so-called ‘circuit breaker’. Wherever you stand on what is going on in the world right now, we’re all in this together.

These restrictions are impacting on all of us so much. The girls are back of gymnastics after only just getting back to normal classes. College is online, and we cannot trick or treat, go to a bonfire or see our friends.

None of that is welcome. Yet. I fully believe life is what you make of it. Sitting and complaining about what we cannot do will not change a single thing. Like it or not, normal life is suspended right now.

What we do have control of is what we chose to make of this time. Instead of complaining, or focusing on what we are missing out on, why not fill our days with what we can do?

Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realise they were the big things

In spite of what the world is doing around us, we can make the decision to enjoy all that we can do. Give thanks for the extra time with our kiddos. Enjoy not having to rush around, taking various kids to various different groups. Be grateful that we are together, warm, safe, happy.

Plan a movie night. Or your own Halloween party at home. Bake a fancy cake. Get the recycling out and make junk models. Dress up warm and sit in your garden and watch the stars. Have your own mini bonfire night in your garden. Curl up and read a book out loud to your kiddos. Have a zoom party with friends.

There is so much we still can do, so many memories we can still make.

Focus on the positives – for if you spend your days complaining, then you will never be happy.
