Simple Relaxing Looks For The Home

You spend a great deal of time in your home, so it is important that it is a place where you can feel relaxed and comfortable. Feeling stressed out wherever you are is horrible, but when the place where you live contributes to your anxiety, this is really not good for you.

If your home has got you in a rut, then you need to think about making some changes as soon as you can to help you find a more centered, and balanced environment in which to spend your life.

The Right Lighting

Having the right lighting is vital. If your home is dark and gloomy, then you will feel miserable and tired all of the time. Try and find a way of creating as much natural light as possible. This may mean changing the curtains or blinds that you currently have in order to find a way of allowing the sun to shine through the window.

Having lots of natural light in your life is important for your mood. Seasonal affective disorder is a form of depression brought on by a lack of exposure to daylight. During the winter months it can be especially hard to get this in you life. With shorter days, if you are working inside all day, you may find you don’t see daylight at all most days.

Think about getting lights that create a sense of natural light. You may also want to think about getting special polarized lights that can be used by anyone who suffers from seasonal affective disorder,

Paint Your Walls Light Colours

Another way to brighten your home up and let more light in is to paint the walls a bright white. Having white walls will make your room seem bigger, as well as creating a crisp clean look that helps to reflect any daylight coming in.

If white is not for you, you can go with some bright and vibrant colours. As long as you avoid the types of colour that make the room feel dark and depressing.

Use Chalk Paint

If you want to brighten up old, dark furniture, why not use some chalk paint to create a lighter look? They will stand out and look beautiful and bohemian.

First, take a piece of old furniture that want to change the look of. Sand it down to help the paint stick to it. Then paint. It’s simple to do, and it creates a great look.

Home Comforts

Having lots of soft furnishings, throws and cushions around the home  is important as it creates a comfortable environment for you to relax in. The more that you get the better. Think about getting some bright and attractive cushion covers. The more positive the colour scheme, the better.

Create Lots Of Space

If your home is cluttered, or your furniture is close together, think about spreading things out and tidying up. The more room you have, the more likely you are to feel calm. Filling up your living space with too many possessions can leave you feeling claustrophobic at times.
