Dreaming of a new bathroom

It’s been a couple of years since I gave our master bathroom a refresh, and it’s feeling like it might be time to do it again. I’m one of those people who like to change things up occasionally frequently. I was the child who liked to rearrange their whole bedroom every couple of months, and even as an adult, there is something refreshing about moving the furniture in a room around, or adding in a few new accessories.

Our bathroom is quite a good size, with a large-ish window that lets lots of light in. The walls are painted grey, which when we first moved in I loved, but now I find can leave the room feeling a little cold. Accessories are the key in here – adding in some pops of warmth and some greenery to add a little life. It’s feeling like the room could use a total overhaul, creating a sanctuary that is warm and welcoming, and a good place for a tired Mama to relax in at the end of the day.

One thing that we really struggle with is having space to dry our towels, with six of us in the house there are a lot of towels, usually draped over the banister to dry. The current towel rail above the radiator isn’t really working, so I am thinking of switching the radiator out for a heated towel rail. Trade Radiators have some well-priced ones, and I’m hopeful that it will keep the room warm AND all of our towels dry.

New towels are a great way to make a quick change to the bathroom {as well as feeling extra luxurious to wrap up in after a bath}. We currently have a warm, sunny yellow – but I’m thinking of picking up a teal colour this time around.  Add in a funky bath rug and shower curtain and the room will feel like new.

If I was creating a dream bathroom, not only would I opt for the heated towel rail, I’d also be switching up our standard bath for a jacuzzi model, and the over-bath shower for a walk in shower. Well, either that or a claw foot bath – I’ve always had a bit of a thing for them, and I’d love one set in front of a giant window so I can soak in a warm bath and watch the world outside. I love a little luxury, and the bathroom has always been my retreat from daily life.

I’d love to add in some integrated speakers to the bathroom too, I love having some music on whilst I bathe, yet given how clumsy I am, having my phone in the bathroom is just asking for trouble! Being able to hook up via bluetooth means I could have some tunes to relax too, without risking dropping my phone in the water {and that wouldn’t be the first time I’ve done that!}

I’ve slowly been trying to add in more and more plants to my bathroom – my dream bathroom is probably one verging on being a jungle! I love a bathroom full of greenery, I find it so relaxing, and adds some warmth and life to the room too.

I think my favourite part of a bathroom makeover, isn’t making the big purchases {like the towel rail or bath} but shopping for all the little accessories that bring the room together and make it feel warm and cosy. I’m feeling quite excited now at the prospect of a New Year bathroom makeover!
