5 things I love to do when I’m home alone
I’m
This afternoon, G is at the gym, the girls have gone to soft play with friends and the baby is napping. So technically I’m not alone… but it’s as close as. I savour every second of alone time, and there are things I do that just don’t happen when the kids are at home with me…
Here are my five favourite things about being home alone….
- Drink HOT coffee/tea – Not only do I get to drink it whilst it’s still hot, I can leave it precariously perched in the middle of the coffee table with no fear of it being knocked off and spilt all over my rug.
- Put my music on – off goes the heavy metal the almost-teenager currently favours, the Katy Perry the tweenager loves, the pop songs the 6 year old has on repeat and the nursery rhymes the baby wants to sing and on goes the record player and one of my favourites – most likely some Bob Dylan, Neil Young or if I’m feeling modern{ish} some She & Him.
- Sit down for more than five minutes – I may have an office, but if I’m home alone you’ll most likely find me sunk into the sofa, enjoying sitting still and not having to get up and down like a yo-yo or be climbed over by the baby
- Talk to myself – most likely a sign that I’m a
lotlittle big bonkers… but something I’ve always done. Nothing quite beats a conversation with yourself… most days it’s the only way I get any sense or my questions answered! - Raid the pantry – my children have an inane ability to know if I’m in the pantry eating the naughty food {i.e my hidden stash of choclates} and will appear before me befoer I even manage to unwrap anything. Being home alone means I can sneakily eat chocolate without having to share any

I love to listen to my music too as the Hubster usually gets a say in the music we listen too when he’s at home (as apparently my choices are depressing!) I love watching all my crappy tv programmes with a jar of Nutella when I’m home alone…which hasn’t happened since Elsie arrived! I’ve still eaten a few jars of Nutella though during that time…! x

February 10, 2016 at 16:53I’m in exactly the same boat as you and rarely have time at home to myself, when I do it feels so strange that I never know what to do! I end up walking from room to room thinking how I should make the most of it then end up sitting on the sofa for the entire time! x

February 12, 2016 at 10:56Oh this sounds like bliss! I LOVE being in the house on my own just to be able to enjoy the peace. I think the noise when we have everyone here can be really overwhelming and it must be the same for you. Enjoy it (sounds like you are!) x
