ideas romantic valentines date night at home

If you’re like us, and have small children, no babysitter, no cash, or would just rather not go out, then why not enjoy a Valentines Date Night at home? It can be just as much fun {and maybe more} than going out.  Date-night at home is a perfect, no-pressure way to spend some quality time with your other half. For us, Vega settles quite late and is unpredictiable when he wakes up, so I wouldn’t be happy leaving him home and going out. One day, but not just yet. Staying home means we don’t have to rush to get the kids to bed, or stress about if the baby is going to wake-up while we’re half way through our meal.

An at-home-date-night is about chilling out, relaxing, and just enjoying each others company. We have one rule for date nights – and that is no phones {or tablets/;laptops}. You don’t want disturbing by Facebook notifications every two minutes while you’re curled up on the sofa, enjoying some couple time.

There is no obligation to dress up – it’s a great excuse to treat yourself to some snazzy new PJ’s {I’m loving these H&M ones} and curl up on the sofa. This year I’m thinking delicious food – most likely we’re going to splash out on a M&S meal deal as they are yummy and means NO COOKING and not too much washing up! Strawberries and chocolate are essentail for afters as is some ice-0cream – I’ve just discovered this strawberry cheesecake flavour and it is so good {though I have to stop myself digging out all of the biscuit pieces first}.

Then light some scented candles, turn the lights off, pop open a bottle of prosecco and pick a romantic movie to watch on Netflix. If you’re super lucky, you might convince your other half to give you a lovely massage too.

Now that’s my perfect sounding Valentines Date Night!

It doesn’t have to cost anything for me to have a perfect date night with my wife. We will stay at home and watch some movie and it will be perfect. We can communicate without distractions. We can focus on each other, not our jobs, children, house, extended family, etc.
