Happy August! Life here is as hectic as ever… guess it’s to be expected with four kiddos! There always seems to be something on or somewhere someone has to be. My Mum came for a visit the weekend before this one just gone. it was nice to have some more company in the house, the kiddos kept her very busy playing games and we celebrated her birthday while she was here.

We got to test out one of the Riverford Recipe boxes* while she was here too. They come with all the ingredients for three meals – we opted for the ‘Original Box’, which had a tomato and basil tart, roasted veg and chorizo salad and a beef and potato curry in. Riverford always offer great quality veg and meat – all organic which is fantastic. The tomato and basil tart was scrumptious, the portions are very generous too. I’d love to have a recipe box like this on a regular basis – it’s a great way to try out new recipes that you might not otherwise, as they send all the ingredients you need – perfect if it’s something unusual that you don’t have in your store cupboard.

We’ve been making the most of the odd day of sunshine, especially as they seem to be followed by a day or two of rain! I’ve managed to get in a bit of gardening time – I’ve cleared a couple of plants out of the bed that were already here, ready to put in an apple and a pear tree come the autumn. Vega loves spending time outside, there is so much to watch and see. He’ll happily sit on a blanket with a basket of toys while we all potter around. He’s fallen in love with this little red plastic rocking horse, we’ve had it since Lola was a baby and he loves to sit and play on there!

I’ve been giggling over this P is for Playdate* book – loving the tear out invites it came with! Also, I really really want to start being less useless and keep a written record of the funny things the kiddos some out with – some get documented on here or my social media, but a written journal would be fab to read back through when I’m old and lonely ;)

We’ve had our first BBQ of the season – terrible considering it’s August – let’s hope we can get lots more in this month. We’ve lots of fun days out and playdates planned for the next few weeks. I’m looking forward to a month of fun and not too much work!

My girlies are desperate to see the new Minion movie – those funny little yellow guys make them giggle! Claires were kind enough to send them some fabulous Minion goodies* last week, though it’s meant they’re even more eager to see the movie.

It’s funny seeing that photo of me up there – I’ve been hating my hair the past couple of weeks – it’s a funny length, I trimmed my fringe back in which I’m not sure I like, and I have itchy feet over the colour… then I see that photo and really like it! Maybe I should just leave it be rather than go for a drastic change of style and colour?! Or just buy lots of wigs….

Kiki has been away this past weekend on a Brownie Camp, Baya {who shares a bedroom with her} has really missed her sister! And I have to say – with Kiki missing it’s acutally been much queiter than normal! I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a sunny day or two this week – I fancy a day trip to the river or beach!

What do you have planned this week?
