Smoothie time with Breville Blend Active

berries

We’re big smoothie fans in this house, it’s a tasty and easy way to get lots of fruit into the kiddos, and I often have one for breakfast. We’ve had a variety of blenders over the years, from stick blenders to jug blenders. We were recently sent this Breville Blend Active Blender to test out. At first, I have to admit, I was a little dubious. It’s main selling point, the thing that makes it different from other blenders, is that you blend directly into the sports bottles. I thought that maybe it was a bit ‘gimmicky’ and would turn out to be another gadget that just sits in the cupboard.

Turns out that I was wrong. Ours came with four bottles – two 600ml ones and two 300ml ones. You simply put your chosen smoothie ingredients straight into one of the bottles, twist on the blade, clip onto the unit and blend. I really like that it makes it easy and effortless to make healthy smoothies. Papa has been making one each morning when he heads out to college, the fact it’s already in a bottle means it’s quick for him to do {and leaves less washing up for me!}.

While not as powerful as, say, a Vitamix, I was impressed with how quickly and efficiently it has blended everything we’ve tried out in it. As I mentioned above, making in the bottles actually cuts down on washing up too – with our jug blender, once the smoothie is mixed, you have a hard to clean jug to wash out, as well as the bottle/glass you put the smoothie in to drink out of.
