TWENTY TWENTY ONE GOALS

I sat last weekend, and read back through the goals I set myself for 2020. Asides from buying fresh flowers every week {I did buy myself flowers, but not every week as often the last weeks were still alive!} I did a good job at hitting my goals. I got on my yoga mat 300 days out of the year, which was pretty good going i think. I’ve been vegan again since January 1 2020 and feel so much better for it!

I’ve really embraced my small pockets of child free time, relishing those few hours when I get to be ‘Polly’ instead of Mama. My last two goals were to invest in me and make long term goals. Lockdown really gave me time to figure things out and start making {and acting on those} plans. I started learning to drive again {a little on and off due to lockdowns}, I’ve completed a short university course ahead of me applying for a diploma in September. I’ve made a five year plan and know where I want to be.

Despite all the madness of last year, personally, it was fanatastic year. Which led me to think about this years goals. It feels good to set achievable goals when we don’t really know where the year is going to take us. I grew so much last year, and I want to keep on with that personal growth.

Here are my goals for 2021…

* PASS MY DRIVING TEST

I’m really loving learning to drive, and desperaltely want to pass my test this year. Of course, this is a little dependant on lockdowns, etc as I can’t have lessons in lockdown which is incredibly frustrating! But I’m hoping to start getting out to drive with family soon so that will help.

* START UNIVERSITY

My plan is to study for a Diploma in Counseling starting this September. I’m equally excited and nervous at the thought of being a student again, but it is time to take this step on a path to a new life.

* RUN 600K THIS YEAR

I started running again in the first lockdown, and remember how much I loved it. I’m doing a 80k challenge this month, and want to keep up with running 3 times a week. If I managed three 5k runs each week that would be 780k over the year!

* GET A BETTER GRIP ON MY FINANCES

I’m on a bit of a ‘sort my shit out’ mission… and this include my finances. Money is very tight as a single Mama with five kiddos, and I want to try and get ahead of myseslf so I’m not living payday to payday. Clear the little debt I have, build some savings and budget better.

* BUY LESS

I’m not a shopoholic, but it’s easy to get caught up in ‘needing things’. I want to be a lot more concious about what I am buying, and whether it is truly needed.

* BE TRUE TO MYSELF

Last year, I spent a lot of time figuring out me. Working out who I am and what I want. I’ve learned some important life lesssons over the last few years, and these new found skills were put to the test in the summer. I want to make sure I’m living aligned to my values and where I want to get to.

Five goals. All in keeping with me creating the life I truly want. Keeping me focused on who I am and where I am going. I like my goals to be bigger things, rather than ‘get up earlier’ or ‘drink more water’ as I find that I am more likely to achieve bigger goals and they are more beneficial in the long run.

Have you set any goals for 2021?
