Review || Vichy Skin Care

I’ve been on a bit of a skin care mission lately. My skin hasn’t fared well through pregnancy, so it was time to take some serious action. It was dull, tired, dry, spotty. I didn’t feel good about how it looked, and I definitely didn’t have that pregnancy glow!

I got sent a few Vichy products to try out, and they have really made the world of difference. The product I was most excited about trying was Vichy Mineral 89. I had read so many good reviews about it, I was thrilled to be able to put it to the test.

Vichy Mineral 89 is a hyaluronic acid based serum that contains the highest amount of Vichy’s Thermal Spa mineral water than any of their other products. Whilst the hyaluronic acid plumps, hydrates and preps the skin for moisture, the thermal water is designed to help protect the skin against environmental aggressors such as pollution, whilst also soothing the skin. A lightweight gel, it sinks into the skin in seconds, instantly giving a boost of hydration, getting rid of any tightness due to dehydration. I found it to be a lot less sticky than other hyaluronic based serums I have tried. I can really notice a difference now after a couple of weeks of using it. My skin looks and feels so much better, and if I forget to apply it in the morning, I can feel the tightness on my skin by mid-morning.

I have also been trying out the Vichy Mieralising THermal Water. I admit I was a little dubious about a can of water, but honestly, it is fantastic. Not just tap water, this water runs through volcanic rock reaching over 4,000 meters underground. As it flows, it is infused with over 15 pure minerals, including calcium and iron, which naturally strengthen and reinforce your skin. In fact, Vichy was once a popular destination for the ancient Romans, who realised the water’s healing powers after bathing in the springs.

The water hypoallergenic and ant-inflammatory, it also balances pH and protects your skin from external aggressors such as weather. I mist the thermal water all over my face after using the serum, then apply my moisturiser on top. This seals it in so that my skin can drink it up. My spots have cleared up, the redness has died down, and my skin doesn’t look dehydrated anymore.

The final product I have been trying out is the Vichy Detox Clarifying Charcoal Mask. It is designed specifically for those exposed to pollution, so perfect if like me you live in a town or city. The deep pore action smoothes and clarifies skin, diminishing imperfections due to dirt and pollution. The Mineralising Thermal Water and kaolin leaves my skin feeling soothed and soft to the touch. I’ve been using it once or twice a week, when I treat myself to a long soak in teh bath, a face mask and hair mask, and it is such a good face mask.
