Things to do on a Friday night when you’re single

Friday nights once meant date night, getting dressed up, doing my hair and make-up, getting the kids to bed, and heading out for some grown-up time. These days, it’s just me, and Friday nights as a singleton at first felt a little depressing. I didn’t want to go out as everywhere I looked I was surrounded by seemingly happy couples out for some Friday night fun. After a while though, I finally began to find Friday nights fun again, and I realised I could spend them doing something just for me. While I don’t often go out these days {hello no childcare}, there are so many things to do to make Friday night fun and kick back a little after a busy week.

Invite the girls around

Once the kids are in bed, Friday nights are great for getting your best friend, or a group of girlfriends around for a giggle. Maybe pop on a movie, order a takeaway or play a game or two. After a long week of parenting, working and keeping the house running, some adult company is very much appreciated.

Watch a movie on Netflix

Netflix and I have a good relationship these days! If I’m home alone on a Friday night, I love to pick a good movie {usually something super cheesy!}, grab a bar of chocolate and cosy up on the sofa. It’s great being able to pick exactly which movie you want to watch without having to try to please anyone else!

Have a pamper night

If it’s been a stressful week, a good pamper session gets rid of any tension and gets me relaxed and ready to enjoy the weekend. A long hot bubble bath, a face mask and a good book are my favourite start to a pamper evening. Followed by a gorgeous scented body lotion, clean PJ’s and then a man/pedi to finish it all off.

Grab an early night

Sometimes, what I really want is my bed. So if that’s the case, that’s just what I do. Mug of tea and whatever book I’m currently reading, and I’ll get snuggled up under the duvet with my hot water bottle, read until I feel sleepy and then get my head down for a nice, long sleep.

Take yourself out

Who says you need a partner to go out? It’s perfectly OK to go out by yourself – grab some girls and go for a drink and a dance, or take yourself to the cinema to see the movie you’ve been dying to watch.

Look for someone new

Maybe you’re ready to not be single anymore, and if that’s the case, hop online. Internet dating sites are a great way to meet new people, especially if you work from home and don’t meet many new people day-to-day. There are so many great ones to choose from, like Hertfordshire singlesEssex dating sitesBedfordshire datingNorthampton singles and dating in Isle of Man, that there is bound to be one that’s right for you!
