Saving photos and a giveaway

wd my passport ultra

I take a lot of photos. And I mean A LOT. I’ve been trying to keep on top of them, so at the end of the month I sort out all the photos into one folder, deleting duplicates, blurred ones and the like… When I sorted January’s photos out, before I started I had over 1,000! Excessive much?! Over Christmas I was using our spare laptop as mine died, and I filled it rather fast with photos – so much so that the poor thing nearly gave up the ghost! I’ve also been in the position before of losing a tonne of images when a laptop has broken – queue millions of tears and several curse words.

I’ve discovered the importance of having an external hard drive – both to protect images from being lost, but also for freeing up space on your computer. I actually back all my images up to the cloud – but I think having them on multiple places is a wise move – you can never be too careful if you don’t want to loose a lifetimes photos.

my passport ultra

Western Digital make this ‘My Passport Ultra’ – a tiny hard drive that has huge storage capabilities- anywhere from 1tb up to 3tb {The 1tb could hold almost half a million photographs!}. It’s given me a huge peace of mind to know that my photos are backed up on here. The other bonus I discovered is that I can use it to easily access my files from other laptops. If for some reason I need to use a different computer to my usual one, I can still get to all of my photos and files with no worries!

If you fancy winning one of these for yourself, I have a blue, 1TB My Passport Ultra to giveaway.

I have lost plenty of photos because I didn’t back up properly/harddrive got drowned/computer burned in fire. The picture I’d currently be saddest about was the picture of my graduation with my parents both present. xx
