Creating a playroom for the kiddos

One of the best things about this house was that we would have space again for a playroom. After 6 years in a tiny, cramped house without one this was so good! it’s fantastic for the kiddos to have space to play that isn’t their bedrooms. And this room is great – it’s big enough for everyone to play in without being right on top of each other.

We have a table, shelves and art trolley in one corner – the girls use this sometimes for their homeschool work and for crafting throughout the day – it means they can leave crafts and things out instead of having to clear them away if I need the table for meal times!

One of the best things I bought when we moved in was this big white shelf unit from IKEA. It holds so much stuff, and with those baskets keeps the messes hidden away! I also love that I can have things at different levels – so things that I don’t want Vega to get hold of are higher up. This is great at least until he learns to climb!

There is a working fireplace in here, I’m hoping to get it swept and a grate put in before the winter so we have a cosy family room to spend those cold winter days in!

Kiki and Baya love that there is enough room in here for the to practice their gymnastics – I think they’re hoping that Papa will make them a beam soon so they can practice even more.

We also have space for a sofa in here, it’s the perfect spot to cosy up and read some books together, or for me to sit with a coffee and watch the kids playing. We have big french doors that open out into the garden, so this is a great space fo the day time, in the summer those doors are flung wide open, and even in the winter they let lots of light in.
