Cool Bedroom Gadgets I Think Could Improve Sleep

For many of us, our bedrooms are our havens where we get some time to ourselves. I don’t seem to use our bedroom as much as I could. But lately I have been spending some extra time in bed in the mornings, reading a book. Since people are gadgeting up all around their homes, it makes sense that there are lots of gadgets for the bedroom too. I’m not sure it’s the best place for electronics, but there are some items that intrigue me. Mostly, I’m interested in the things that help you relax and sleep. There are some useful gadgets for the bedroom, from alarm clocks to sleep trackers.

Wake-up Light

Alarm clocks can often give you a pretty rude awakening. One minute I’m snuggled under the covers, fast asleep, and the next I’m shooting upright in bed. When you have kids, you get used to being woken up at all times. But when it’s an alarm clock doing the waking, it’s better if it’s not entirely unpleasant. One of the things that I think is better for a more gentle wake-up is to use light instead of sound. If you use a gadget like the Lumie Bodyclock, you get a gradually increasing light to wake you up. The idea is to mimic the sun rising. You could sleep with the curtains open in the summer, but if you relied on that for winter, you’d have a lot of lie-ins.

Personal Massager

Bedrooms are places to relax and get some private time, either alone or with your partner. And what better way to relax than with a massage? If you have a personal massager, you can give yourself a massage. Or get your partner to do it for you when you’re spending some time together. And, of course, there’s the Magic Wand massager, which became famous for doubling up as a girl’s best friend. It may not be its intended purpose. But many women and their partners have enjoyed its unintended second use.

Sleep Monitors and Trackers

One of the reasons we can find it hard to sleep and wake up feeling groggy is that we get the timing wrong. We try to sleep at the wrong time and we set alarms to wake us when we’re in the middle of a sleep cycle. Luckily, there are lots of new gadgets to track your sleep. I’m intrigued by these, as I’m not sure how accurate they are! There are different types available, some that go under your mattress or that you wear on your head. Usually, you track your sleep with your smartphone. I’m not sure how useful these tools are when there’s a baby in the house…

Atmosphere Sensors

Bedroom conditions are pretty essential to a good night’s sleep. I can’t sleep if it’s too hot or cold, and things like humidity and noise can have an effect too. You can get sensors that help you monitor different factors in the room, such as Cubesensors. Then you can adjust things to suit your preferences and create the perfect sleeping conditions. Although I wouldn’t want the bedroom full of gadgets, I do like the thought of some that would help me get a perfect night’s sleep.
