Distinctive Chesterfields

I have been window shopping for the perfect sofa for years. Currently we have two ancient two-seather sofas that were bought for us when we first moved to Wales almost ten years… I never particularly liked them, but, hey, I couldn’t afford to be picky at the time! I’ve always really loved leather sofas, especially if they’re in a chocolatey brown colour! When I was younger, I’d spend hours pouring through home catalogues, picking out just the right one. For years I’ve been hoping one would magically appear on my doorstep, they’re one thing that can get away with looking a little battered and worse for wear.

I recently came across Distinctive Chesterfields, a range of gorgeous, high quality leather sofas. I spent a good hour drooling over the website, trying to pick out which one I would most like to own. Chesterfield Sofa are completely bespoke, made to order in their workshop by our talented craftsmen. This means you can have exactly what you want, from your choice of feet, stud work, and leather. They can even make a sofa or chair to your own dimensions, to ensure it fits perfectly in your living room. From Chaises Lounges to footstools, sofa’s to study chairs, there are a huge range of different styles to choose from, in a rainbow of colours. Distinctive Chesterfields range is extensive and all products are handmade in England using the finest leathers and hardwood frames.

The sofa pictured at the top of this post is my absolute favourite and exactly what I have been searching for for years. The Berkeley Chesterfield Sofa is gorgeous. It looks so comfortable and like a perfect place to cosy up with Papa for a movie after the kiddos have gone to bed. In a house full of children, who are, um, lets say, a little messy {!} a leather sofa would be a great solution to spilt drinks or sticky fingers as they can easily be wiped down. Meaning my house could look a little cleaner.

In our small house, there is only just enough space in our living room for two, two-seater sofas, cosied around the fireplace. If I had the more space, or a different layout, then I would love a corner sofa. They offer a great solution for families, offering a space where you can all sit together. Doesn’t this look like a great place to sit with all your kiddos and read some stories?!

Looking through their huge range of colours available, I started to fall in love a little with this gorgeous green sofa! I’ve never thought before that I would like a coloured leather sofa, prefering good ol’ brown. But this one? I think it would look perfect in my little house, I can imagine curling up on it, with a good book, a roaring fire and a glass of mulled cider on a cold winters night…. I think it’s safe to say that a Chesterfield Sofa is now top of my wishlist!

Those old sofas are something I admired from my youth and still do on the rare occasions I see them – they seem even when as old as my grandmother to be much more durable than the sofa-bed we decided after looking through a choked garage at home to merely discard after thinking of taking it to Sydney for my brother’s use in a flat he will be renting from the third of May.

There would only be room in our small inner-city house or my brother’s new flat for one sofa bed, but I still am attracted to them.
