Mamaheart

Say hello to this week’s Mamaheart, Joanna

Mamaheart Joanna Modamama

What does motherhood mean to you?
I’ve never thought about it.  But I guess it means loving as much as I can possibly do at one moment, apologizing when I fail or lose  my temper, and breathing breathing to remember to be the best person I can be at any given moment.  The role models we are to our children is the most important thing, and to strive to be the best you possible is the daily goal. And to admit our weaknesses and our faults to our children shows we’re only human, and demonstrates humility.
How has motherhood changed you?
It has made me chase my dreams harder.  It has given me a drive and a purpose because I never want my daughter to look at her mother and see a woman without drive ans passion; a woman with a life lived unfulfilled.
What is the hardest part of being a mama?
Patience and selfishness.  These are my two failings and I struggle with them daily.  I’m one woman with limits and human failings, and I try to be patient and giving, but sometimes I fail.
What is the biggest joy that your children have given you?
She’s shown me who I can be.  She’s shown me the best that resides in me, and she’s shown me the worst that resides in my heart.  And I’m thankful for both.  To truly know your depths, to truly understand your highs and lows is to know thyself.  And that’s the best gift she could’ve given me.
That, and that precious top-of-her-head smell that makes everything in the world okay.  Just that one moment of perfection
What one piece of advice would you give a first time mama?
You’re human.  You’ll fail.  You’ll never ‘get it right’ because that doesn’t exist.  And that’s okay.  As long as you love and try your best, that’s the only thing your child asks for.
And forgive yourself.  No one’s perfect.
