This Week

Hello! Wednesday already…. we’re easing to being back home after the summer. Still enjoying some sunshine here, I’ve been catching up on some gardening after being away, still lots of goodies growing out there! We left one of our courgettes to grow into a marrow, the girls are loving watching just how big it’s getting! Autumn prep in the veggie patch will be under way shortly, getting beds ready for the winter and for next years garden. I turned the last of our homegrown strawberries into a big batch of jam this week, added to the plum jam I made already. My cupboards also got a few jars of this courgette relish this week. Do you make your own chutneys//jams? I’d love to see what you fill your cupboards with.
Miss Kiki took part in her first gymnastics competition this week. She was so very nervous, poor baby. She’s only been going for a couple of months, but she did really well, and I think she’s glad to have the first one over and done with!
I’ve been giving the house a ‘spring clean’ a room at a time, getting rid of the debris that has accumulated over the summer and getting ready for a return to homeschool and more of a ‘normal’ routine. I swear the little girls room seems twice as big now it’s tidy and you can see the floor again. ha!
Today we’re off food shopping ready for our anniversary party on Friday night! So looking forward to an evening around the fire with friends.
What do you have planned for the rest of your week?

August 21, 2013 at 23:20We always have heaps of tomato plants and I love to make tomato relish, very yummy :)I also make elderflower cordial from our elderflower trees and this summer I’m going to try to make some raspberry jam and cordial. Congratulations for Miss Kiki getting through her first comp, I remember feeling very nervous when I did ballet exams and comps :) Today we’re off food shopping and for the rest of the week some cleaning and organising!

August 22, 2013 at 04:21Polly, I make the very same relish but it is called Zucchini Relish here, lol. I make it because we love it mixed with tuna for hot tuna sandwiches and also in Deviled Eggs instead of sweet pickle relish. How fun to know we are making the same things.
