Growing Wild

My kiddos love to help out in the garden, digging, planting, watering, even a little weeding, they’re always happy to help out! I remember being little and helping my Dad in his veggie patch. It makes me so happy that I can pass on to my children the knowledge that he passed on to me.

We received this gorgeous little gardening kit as part of the  #KidsGrowWild Challenge by the Moneysupermarket.com, the girls were taken with the bag to keep garden things in, plus a shiny new watering can!

Papa has just finished replacing our decking, and added some built in flower planters along the edge. We don’t grow many flowers, as most of our space is dedicated to growing our own fruit and veg, though we have a few – such as Marigold’s by the tomato plants {keeps the whitefly away}, edible ones such as nasturtiums and calendula and of  course, sunflowers. So the girls were pleased to have somewhere to plant the pansy and wildflower seeds that came with our kit.

Kiki and Baya happily filled the planters with compost, added some Lobelia plants that we picked up and sprinkled the seeds in the planters. The four lower planters have the wildflower seeds and the three higher ones hold the pansy’s. We’re looking forward to some pretty blooms to gaze on while we eat our breakfasts on the deck!
