Flowers in her hair

And though she be but little, she is fierce

I love how fearlessly my children live. Unafraid, full of unbridled passion. Ready to dive in to each new adventure that comes their way. Trusting of the world around them, free of prejudice, free of shoulds and ought-to’s.

They live for the day, enjoy every moment and don’t worry about what has been or what is to come.

There are a lot of lessons we can learn from them.

Some days my mama heart aches, worrying seems to be what mama’s do best. When the weather takes a turn for the grey and chilly, my mood goes with it too…. hearing their sweet giggles and no-reason hugs never fails to remind me just how lucky I am <3

And this poem… I’ve been loving it so this week:

When I am among the trees,
especially the willows and the honey locust,
equally the beech, the oaks and the pines,
they give off such hints of gladness.
I would almost say that they save me, and daily.

I am so distant from the hope of myself,
in which I have goodness, and discernment,
and never hurry through the world
but walk slowly, and bow often.

Around me the trees stir in their leaves
and call out, “Stay awhile.”
The light flows from their branches.

And they call again, “It’s simple,” they say,
“and you too have come
into the world to do this, to go easy, to be filled
with light, and to shine.”
