Finding Alternate ‘Hen & Stag Do’ Celebrations

When someone is about to get married, it’s often customary for the bride and groom to enjoy a seperate night out with their friends. Traditionally, or at least it seems, most people head out on the town, get royally drunk, and come back with heads hurting the next day. Perhaps this happens in a foreign country or distant beach, but the principles are the same. Wherever you attend, there’s likely to be plenty of beer, wine or cocktails. But is this all there is to this celebration? Do we really need to celebrate the end of our unmarried life by getting absolutely out of it?

Or is there a better alternative? What if you don’t drink? What if you want to include more of your family in your celebrations rather than those who can head on a night like this? Of course, some might scoff at that ideal. But this idea isn’t based around stopping people from enjoying alcohol or doing whatever they want with their celebrations, it’s simply about providing people with an alternative should they seek it.

So let’s seek it:

Culture

Why not head somewhere spectacular for a couple of days instead of spending it in bed with a hangover? You could be sipping a nice, simple glass of wine in Rome or be sampling delicious treats in Lyon. Why not finally come together to see the aquatic streets of Venice, or even head to Sydney? Of course, this might be more expensive than simply heading to your local bar, but it can grant you a priceless experience that instead of giving you something you won’t remember, helps you with a very human experience that lasts and will give you something fond to remember. A little culture goes a long way, just be sure that you don’t take that desire for celebratory chaos and make the residents of a tourist hotspot endure it.

Take A Class

Why not come together to learn something fun together? You might embark on an expenses-paid pottery expedition, or perhaps head on a skydive, or do something out of the ordinary even by those standards. A little experienced tour or lesson can help you not only experience something you might not have, but it’s surely more constructive than waking up in the morning dreading the ‘tagged and drunk’ pictures of social media. You might decide to schedule an event for this to take place, and try here to find a band to orchestrate the evening.

A Murder Mystery Evening

Many hotels and other businesses will offer a murder mystery evening, often set in a period, where you can experience a story and try to get to the bottom of a case. It’s likely a theatrical piece that you interact with. Dressing up in your best period rented clothes or ballgowns can help you feel stunning and have great fun with your friends, and we must say that’s much better attire than the tacky ‘hen’ learning plate symbols or pink sash. Stepping into an Agatha Christie novel like this will be a very fun experience, and will be looked on with fondness.

With these tips, not only can you include your family in your celebrations more appropriately, but you might also enjoy a much nicer hen or stag do.
