Spring Flower Collage
The kiddos and I had planned a trip to the park on their bikes first thing yesterday morning. By the time everyone was up and dressed, it had begun to rain, so we opted for the next best thing and spent the morning crafting. When I fetched not only my button stash but also my box of scrapbooking papers the kiddos were more than happy to be crafting instead of biking! We thought we’d add a little sunshine to a grey day, and make our own spring flowers.
They were easy to make, and all three of mine had fun. It was a nice way to spend an hour or two. I think these would make lovely cards too, if you cut the circles smaller. Littlies might need help cutting the circles out, or you could have the shapes pre-cut out before you begin for tiny tots.
You’ll Need:
Lids, cups, cookie cutters – anything that circular to draw around, in varying sizes.
Scrapbooking paper
Buttons
Glue
Firstly, cut out a variety of circles in different sizes and on different paper. We used three circles for each flower. We also cut out stems and leaves from a sheet of plain green paper.
Once you have enough circles, stems and leaves, lay your flowers out on a sheet of card, the girls decided to use plain white, though you could use patterned paper, or even paint/colour a sheet first. Once you’re happy with how they’re laid out it’s time to glue it all down {this was Baya’s favourtie part!} Once all of your paper is glued down, you can pick a button to add to the centre of the flower {and Baya found a tiny butterfly button to add to her picture too}. Ours are now hanging in the dining room to add a little cheer.
