This Homeschooling Life #14
September
I’m always grateful at times like this, that sit-down, formal learning, isn’t actually a necessity. The kids have still learnt so much, even when plans don’t work out. We’re in the middle of some big life changes here, more of which soon! I also realised I haven’t shared our curriculum/topic choices for the year – so will get on that next week.
Last week, we also had the first meet of our new home ed book group. Our first book was ‘El Deafo‘ – an autobiography that chronicles the author’s hearing loss at a young age and her subsequent experiences with a powerful and very awkward hearing aid called the Phonic Ear. We LOVED this book, it was a fantastic book – so inspiring and full of warmth. For their book group, the girls each made something inspired by the book – Baya made a poster, Kiki made a mini zine and Lola made a craft from in the book – a bag full of ‘fuzzies’ {you’ll have to read to figure out what they are!!}. You can join in the book club online at NurtureStore.
I’m hoping to get back on track with our plans this week, and keeping my fingers crossed October is better than September! Would love to read your home educating posts, link up below!
This Homeschooling Life is a linky for you to share either a week, a day or just a moment from your life as a homeschooling family. We are hoping it will be a really nice way to discover new blogs and learn how we all do things differently.
