Life, lately

Let’s sit and grab a coffee…. these weeks are whizzing by, a whirlwind of activity. Life is busy enough with four kiddos, homeschooling and my work… add in trying to move house and it’s all a bit cray-cray…

Our new house is still a few weeks away from being ready… that bathroom picture up there is the upstairs bathroom in our new house… it’s looking SO good! I think the kitchen is almost done too, and then it’s just the downstairs to be decorated. I’m really grateful to have a few weeks before we have to move in, all this time has made it less stressful trying to pack up… it’s a slow and steady job with Master Vega – too much packing makes for a cranky baby ;) Plus it’s meant that I’ve had time to sort things out, do some de-cluttering and bag up all the rubbish/stuff to donate before we move.

We’ve gotten back into our ‘homeschooling groove’ this past week or two… winter and a baby through me right off track, but things are settling back down to ‘normal’ and it’s easier to tackle projects and help the girlies with their work again.

The weather has been pretty rotten this week, wet and cold – we’d just gotten used to that sunshine and warmer weather, good job we hadn’t quite packed our winter coats! We’ve been missing our evening bike rides to the park after dinner.. come back sun!

We’ve had a couple of visits from family too, G’s dad and brother popped in for the day, then his Mum and Dad came at the weekend. Living away from our families, it’s always nice when they pop by.. short but sweet – usually the best kind of family visits ;)

It was Focus Wales here the other week, the girls and I managed to catch a couple of shows – one being Heal The Last Stand – they played an amazing set in the Church next door to our house.

We also went out on Saturday to our friends little boys naming ceremony. Was such a great afternoon {despite a last minute venue change due to the rain}, the kiddos had fun and it was lovely to catch up with some lovely folk.

There’s been lots of tea drinking, cake baking and story reading in amongst box packing… we’re getting to the point where we go to find something and it’s already been packed. Roll on moving day {then it’ll be a mission to get it all unpacked and finding new homes for everything}

What have you been up to this week?

    Well we went camping at the weekend, which was soggy to say the least. I attempted the high ropes but put one foot out onto a rope net and got scared and had to come down!

    The sun had better come back soon, it really puts a spanner in the works. Well done for getting back on track with stuff, you are amazing! PS Beastie really is the spit of his dad isn’t he :)

    Very modern even though homeschooling – when in a titillating mood I imagine homeschoolers who live lives of extreme silence, continuous prayer, veiling of faces in private and public by females, eating one vegan meal a day (with periods consuming no food or drink whatsoever) and no electricity or artificial light (a place of “silent darkness”).

    I realise real homeschoolers are never so extreme as that, but nonetheless the modern conveniences do seem to lose a lot of the “community” aspects lost when in a school – as I can testify from experience with children who could not cope with my behaviour as a child in the 1980s and 1990s.
