Life, lately

Not quite sure how it’s almost the middle of March already?! This year is racing by, I’m wishing it would slow down so this baby boy of mine doesn’t grow up too fast. Life is so full with four kids and all their activities, plus work and baby that the days seem to pass by in a blur. Sometimes the weekend rolls around again, and I’d swear it was only a day since the last one. We’re certainly all feeling a little more alive now that spring is pretty much hear and the sun has come back. Waking up to daylight always makes the day start off well!

There’s been coffee lately, some more days than others! I try to keep it to a cup or two a day, but really need that one in the morning to get this tired Mama brain in gear. Um – how big does Vega look in this photo with two of his sisters?! He’s definitely still a big fn of Kiki and she of him, I think those two will be best friends as he grows bigger – she’s desperate for him to be big enough to sleep in her bed! Daytime bubble baths are a great indulgence, and on the odd rainy day, a great way to kill an hour. Kiki and Baya love to take their dolls in and play some funny games – we’ve been using this Child’s Farm bubble bath, it’s great as it’s delicate enough to use for mine who have eczema and doesn’t dry their skin out {plus it smells amazing!} Baya’s also been loving the detangling spray – her curly hair seems to dreadlock itself overnight, and this makes brushing out a little less ouchy.

Waffles – need I say more?! We usually have pancakes on a Sunday morning, but since I rediscovered the waffle iron hiding in a cupboard we’ve had waffles for a change. It was the home ed day at Techniquest last week, we haven’t made it along in months so the kiddos had a great time, especially as there were some new exhibits there since we last visited. One of the things we were investigating at Techniquest was how much sugar was in our food and drinks. The girls were amazed at just how much sugar was in the squash that they like, and it led to us talking more at home about what we drink and how good it is for us. We found these yummy Vita Coco kids cartons, they’re pretty tasty as well as being naturally flavoured and lower in sugar than many other kids drinks. Vita Coco have a sugar maze at the moment to help parents work out how much sugar is ok an what drinks are best to give.

This week has found us getting back into something of a normal home school routine, it’s all been a bit crazy since the baby arrived, but I’ve finally gotten back on track with some project work for the girls. Vega’s been a happy, chatty baby again this week – happiest when sat on someone’s knee chatting to them! Miss Baya went off for her very first night away from home! She went on a sleepover with the Rainbows, she was very excited {and I was more nervous than her!} she had a great time, and came home full of stories and very tired on Sunday!

We spent a rainy day last week making our own t-shirts. The girls had a great time! Plain white t-shirts, an iron on transfer and some fabric pens kept them busy for a whole afternoon! Their shirts turned out great, I just need to get the three of them wearing them at once to take a group photo ;)

Vega is looking so grown up – slow down baby! It’s that healthy appetite of his. I know what you mean about March – that needs to slow down a bit as well! x
