Creating a family monogram

Have you ever thought about designing a family monogram? I have to admit, it wasn’t something I had given much thought to until we were asked to try out the monogram maker free online. Once I got started, I decided that a family monogram was a must have – why had we not thought about it before? I challenged the kiddos to play around with the site too, interested to see what they would come up with! Baya was really taken with the idea, and created this simple but stylish monogram for herself.

The site itself is really straightforward to use. You type in your monogram letters, then choose a font and a colour. There is a great selection of fonts for you to choose from, and you can rotate the letters and adjust the size. The next step is to choose your frame – again, there is a big choice, you can adjust colours, sizes, rotation, even layer up more than one frame to create a unique image.

Once you are happy you can export your finished image – you can save it as a png file meaning it has a transparent background, perfect for creating your own ideas with – printing on coloured/patterned paper, making letterheads, or a framed image…. the ideas are endless.

Whilst chatting with the kiddos about Christmas the other day, we decided that we should make individual name cards for the table this year. We always set the table a little fancier than usual on Christmas, and we’re hoping that my Mama will be here visiting too, so we thought it would be good to put name cards out so everyone knows where to sit {read – the kiddos want to be sure they get ‘their’ seats!}

So when we were playing around with this monogram maker online, we realised that we could use it to make cute name cards too! With this cute Christmas Hat frame, and our names popped in the middle, I printed them out, folded them and think they will be a perfect addition to our Christmas table this year. I plan on laminating them to protect them and so we can use them year after year.

If you are short on ideas, the site has a gallery of monograms other users have created to give you a little inspiration. But it’s such a fun tool to use, that I have no doubt you’ll be making monograms for everyone and to put on everything!

I made a boho looking monogram, and used it to create these bookplates. I often lend my books out, but there are some that I don’t want to lose, so I thought putting a bookplate in the front would ensure that they find their way back to me eventually. I layered up three frames for this monogram, choosing different colours as well a adjusting the opacity of the frames to create a look I was happy with. I’m pretty pleased with the end results!

Next on my list is to create a monogram to make stickers with to seal envelopes when I post out Christmas and Birthday cards!
