Planning your dream wedding

The first time I got married, we eloped and it was a low key affair. Looking back I always regretted it slightly and wished I’d had the wedding of my dreams. I guess one day I might – who knows what the future might hold.

LIke a lot of little girls, I used to dream of what my wedding would be like. Beautiful venue, big white dress, friends, and family gathered around me. I love looking at photos of beautiful big weddings, though personally, I think I would opt for something a little more low key. A chance to celebrate my relationship and spend some time with my favourite people.

If I got married in the summertime, I would love to get married in a field, a few yurts up, a gorgeous willow arch to say our vows underneath, live music and a fire in the evening. If it was a winter wedding, then I would pick a mansion or an old manor house. Somewhere we could have a big room to get married in, where my Dad could walk me down the aisle {as I didn’t have that the first time around}, and where everyone could stay so we could celebrate in the evening with food and music, and lots of dancing. Bijou Weddings have some truly gorgeous venues to choose from, some totally idyllic places that would make for a really special wedding day.

If you are planning your dream wedding, here are some points to consider:

STAG/HEN DO ~ the pre-wedding party, it’s such a fun and essential part of the wedding and a great way to start of the celebrations. Why not plan a fun weekend away with some fun stag and hen party activities?

RING ~ whether you are still looking for the perfect vintage engagement ring or a wedding ring, there is a lot to consider. It will be something that you will be wearing every day for a long time, so you need to ensure that it is a piece that you absolutely love agreed orlajames.com.

VENUE ~ the venue is the first thing to consider – where would you love to tie the knot. IN a Church? In a Manor house? In a field or on a beach?

GUESTS ~ I’m not one who thinks you *have* to invite people that you wouldn’t actually want there. It’s YOUR day and if you don’t want to invite every aunt you have, then don’t

SERVICE ~ what kind of service would you like? Traditional? Or something more unique, with your own personal vows?

DRESS ~ your wedding is a day for you to wear whatever you like. Want that huge, lacey number? Then go for it! Want something a little more understated? That’s fine too – where whatever makes you feel a million dollars.

EVENING DO ~ what kind of celebration do you want to have after the service? A big sit down meal, or a more informal buffet? An evening of dancing, a band or a DJ?

PHOTOS ~ Do you want posed photos, or more natural, candid shots, or a mix of the two? One great idea is wedding photo sharing ~ get your guests to share the photos that they take, so you have a wonderful collection of memories from the day.

A wedding is an exciting thing to plan, it’s a big event and a marker of the start of something special. THe most important thing to remember is that it is your day – and you shouldn’t try to please other people, only yourselves. More often than not, family will have lots of advice on how they think your wedding should be – but only take their advice if you agree with it, you don’t have to make your day about other people.

Maybe one day I will get my dream wedding! If you were planning your ideal wedding, how would it look?
