Create your own Happy Jar

Happy New Year! I hope your 2018 got off to a great start? We saw the New Year in with friends by the sea, it was the best New Year’s Eve the kiddos and I have had, it was so much fun {we made confetti balloons which we popped on an hour in the countdown to midnight!}. Beginning the New Year surrounded by friends made it extra special, I am so excited for 2018. I’ve lots of plans and goals, dreaming big and planning on making this a fantastic year.

We got back home yesterday, made yet another ‘picky dinner’ {read lots of cheese, crackers and party snacks!}, popped Esio Trot on the TV and opened up last years ‘Happy Jar’

2017 was the first time I’ve ever done this, but I’m so glad that I did. The kids and I loved pulling out all the slips of paper last night and remembering all the fun things and memories we made last year. We’ve cleared out the jar ready to fill even more this year!

Our ‘Happy Jar’ is an old Bell Jar and we used mini chalkboard labels to write on the front of it. it lives on the Kitchen window, and we keep a pack of mini post-it notes on the kitchen table so we can all grab one easily and write down anything happy that we’ve done. There are no rules on what goes on the notes – it can be anything from big things {like a holiday or birthday} to sitting around the fire-pit or having a friend round. Quite simply, anything that makes one or all of us happy goes in there!

We’d planned to read through it on New Year’s Eve, but as we were away we did it a day late. I think it will be a great New Year tradition to read through all of our happy memories each year. I’m currently undecided on whether I should keep last years notes or not – I’m trying not to hoard things anymore!!

Would love to see your happy jar if you have one/make one!
