Wedding dreams

wedding-dreams

The first time I got married, we eloped. At 21 I thought it was a romantic thing to do, something that was exciting and adventurous. We hired a car, I bought a new white skirt, we booked a B&B, drove to Gretna Green, grabbed a couple of the street to be our witnesses and said ‘I do’.  Looking back it wasn’t the best idea, was rooted in hiding and running away, but still. in the years since I’ve often thought about what I’d do if I ever got married again. Now I’m single again, that is a little more likely to happen one day, though who knows!

So how would I like my wedding day to look if I took the plunge again?

Well, I don’t have any desire for an over the top day, I certainly don’t think that I’m a meringue dress kinda gal really! What I’d like the most is a simple day, one that is fun, relaxed and full of the people that I love the most.

I think my ideal wedding setting would be in a field somewhere out here in beautiful Wales, surrounded by woodland, hwere it’s quiet and far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I’d love to have a beautiful arch decorated with spring flowers to get married under, circled by rows of chairs for all of our guests to sit and watch.

I think that I would choose a vintage gown to wear. Something that is long and flowy, understated, with a simple flower crown and long flowing hair. I would have my girls as my bridesmaids/flowergirls, and my little boy to walk me down the aisle. We’d be surrounded by close friends and family, just a small intimate gathering.

Weddings can easily become huge, stressful affairs, not to mention costly, but for me, keeping it small and simple, and organising it myself is where it’s at. There are so many great ideas online, and I recently discovered a fantastic website called Confetti – it’s great for wedding ideas, planning and advice – it really is worth visiting their website if you’re planning a wedding.

After the ceremony, I’d have a big tent, friends bands playing music, maybe a BBQ or a wood-stove pizza van to feed everyone. Then an evening of music, laughter, dancing, spending time with our friends and family, making the day special and memorable.

What would your ideal wedding day look like?
