California Dreaming

california-dreaming

Ever since I was a teenager, I’ve longed to visit California. Blue skies, gorgeous beaches, stunning scenery. There have been so many books I’ver read and movies I have watched set in California, that I have always felt such a pull to go for a trip, I’d love to live there but I can’t see that ever happening. I have family living in Pasadena, so a California holiday to see them combined with visiting a few of the places on my bucket list is more likely to happen – I better get saving the pennies!

I’ve been doing some window shopping of holidays lately, seeing what deals I could find for a trip to California when I can afford to go, and making up a dream itinerary for when we’re there.

Pasadena ~ our first stop would be Pasadena, to visit family and checking out some of the local experiences there – the Rose Bowl, Eaton Canyon Falls, the Pasadena Playhouse and the Huntington Library, Art Collections & Botanical Gardens are all on our to do list.

Los Angles –  no trip to California would be complete without a few days in LA.  Soaking up some of the big screen glamour that LA epitomises, visiting the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a trip to Universal Studios Hollywood.

Santa Monica ~ another place I’ve wanted to visit for years. A few days of sunshine and beach life, as well as a walk along the Santa Monica Pier with its amusement park rides, aquarium wonders and festival food.

Yosemite National Park ~ I’d love to see its breathtaking waterfalls and the famous grove of giant redwoods is Mariposa Grove

Big Sur ~ a drive along this beautiful, scenic section of coast between Los Angeles and San Fransisco has long been a dream of mine!

San Fransisco ~ for a gal who is a hippie at heart, and loves the 60s, a trip to San Fransisco would be a dream. It looks like such a vibrant and exciting city, with so many amazing places to visit. Haight Ashbury, checking out homes of music stars such as Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and The Grateful Dead. I’d love to visit Fishermans Wharf and go out to Alcatraz too.

Disneyland ~ this one is for the kiddo’s more than me, but I know they’d love to visit Disneyland so much and it would round off our trip with a big burst of fun for them!

Have you visited California? Any must see places you’d recommend?
