Messy Moments with Carpetright

With four kids, as you might imagine, there have been more messy moments than I can remember. Kids and mess go together like bread and butter, where there is a kid it’s kind of inevitable that you will find mess. Before I had kids I never really ‘got’ the whole mess thing. I mean… how can little people make such a mess in such a short space of time, impossible right?!

Well, as it turned out, no, it wasn’t impossible. In fact, it was possible for them to make a whole lot of mess in the 30 seconds I had my back turned.

Messy Moments…

My first ‘messy moment’ came with Lola and that ubiquitous tub of Sudocrem… I’m sure that is a common one, Mama walks out of the room for five minutes post nappy-change, bubba decided to helpfully cover themselves head to toe in a thick layer of the stuff. Which then proves near impossible for you to wipe off as it’s designed to stay on forever!

Then there was the time Lola watched me putting up a curtain rail.. she saw me using a pen to mark the places to drill on the wall, and when I popped out of the room she decided that she would help – and in the five minutes I was out of the room, she drew on every single one of the vertical blinds, from top to bottom ON BOTH SIDES. I have to admit, I was slightly impressed at her speed! Not so impressed when the blinds shrunk by two inches when I soaked them to try and get the pen out mind.

I’ve found more children mean more mess opportunities – they are good at waiting until you are busy with their sibling and act quickly whilst your back is turned. When Kiki was around 8 months old {so Lola would have been 4}, Lola decided that it would be fun to paint her sister’s face – with nail varnish!!!

Baya seemed to be my worse {so far} at making messes that involved the house and not just her skin. Such as the time she found a thick, permanent black marker and drew all over my {white} walls….. that took several coats of paint to cover! OR the time she emptied a bottle of paint all over the carpet. Or when she decided to use an ink pad as lipstick and kiss my sofas…

I have a feeling that Vega may make a good attempt at beating any of his sister’s efforts. He’s already an expert at getting his hands on things that he knows he shouldn’t have. With a playroom full of craft stuff – which in theory is supposed to be out of his reach, but as his sisters often forget to put things away, he has a whole array of messy things to choose from. He has already helpfully coloured in some nice neon yellow patches on my carpet – who wants a boring grey carpet anyway?!

I’m sure it’s not just me who has these {lovely} messy moment memories?? What is the best mess your kiddo has managed to make??
