A garden makeover for spring

I’ve basically spent all winter waiting for spring to arrive so that we can use our garden again! When we moved last year, the garden was the only thing we downsized on – it’s probably about half the size of our previous garden, but in reality is still an ok size – we’ve two sheds, a playhouse, patio, grass, a trampoline and a sandpit. So not tiny. It was a bit of a mess after the winter {in all honesty it still is} – the grass was really patchy, everywhere was just mud and it looked awful.

I love spending time in the garden, especially when it’s warm enough to have the patio doors open so the kiddos can be in and out all day long and it’s basically an extension fo the house. It makes such a huge difference having an outdoor space to paly in. Especially for Beastie – that boy LOVES being outside.

Ocean Loans got in touch and asked if I’d like to take part in their Spring Garden campaign – so of course, I said yes! Now, technically it’s spring though we’re in Wales so Spring seems to mean rain, rain and more rain! SO I’ve not got the garden as ship shape as I’d like just yet {plus I’m waiting on G arranging for some rubbish to be moved!}.

However, I have managed a couple of big tidy up sessions, raking up the last of the leaves and debris that was all over the lawn, www.bestventolininhalers.com pulling up some weeds and tidying around the patio area. G cemented the brick planter back together, so I transplanted all our strawberry plants in there ready for a berry bounty this summer {I hope}.

Baya and I went out and bought rather a lot of bulbs and seeds – dahlias, gladioli, sunflowers, nasturtiums and others that I can’t remember what they were called {I’m not very green fingered!}. We’ve also planted some mixed salad leaves {which I’ll sow some more of every couple of weeks all through summer now} and some courgette plants. I’ve just bought some baby tomato plants which I’m going to put in hanging baskets {to keep away from my Beastie as well as the slugs and snails!}

We also purchased some solar lights – two strings of fairy lights – one for the playhouse and one that is on the top patio, and some post lights that are along the side of the path – it looks so pretty at night now {shame it’s still too cold to sit out!}. I loved this bench onto the top patio too, the table I had there was too big, and this is perfect for sitting with a cup of coffee and watching the kiddos play.

Its amazing what a difference a little tidy and a few new bulbs can make, Im really excited to finish off the garden and spend some lovely, lazy summer days in it!
