Feeling Festive {at last}

So, a week to go until the big day, and I’m finally feeling excited instead of stressed and that festive bug has got me…. It’s been a busy month, working and prepping for Christmas and Vega’s birthday. I’ve been feeling the pressure to get everything done and ‘perfect’, which left me tired and not feeling any to festive.

Today I declared a ‘stay home and craft’ day… we’ve been catching up on activities we’ve not managed to get around to yet this month and it feels good to drop the work, the deadlines, the to-do list, blast out some Christmas tunes and have a fun, festive day with my four little people. Here are my favourite things about the festive season:

  1. Twinkling fairy lights – while it might be kinda weird that we have an 8ft tree in the house…. I love that it’s covered in twinkly lights, looking all pretty and cosy in the corner of my living room.
  2. Christmas baking – so far today we’ve made mince pies, shortbread stars and stained glass cookies to hang on the tree. There’ll be a whole load more baking in the next few days, love the excuse to bake {and eat} so many goodies in a short space of time!
  3. Chocolate… along the same lines as above, Christmas means having giant tubs of chocolates by the side of the sofa
  4. Christmas Movies – what are your favourites?? I watch It’s a Wonderful Life every year and ELF gets watched, oh, maybe a dozen times through December!!
  5. Baileys…. Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a bottle {or two} of aBailesy…poured over ice, a splosh in your hot chocolate or even poured over ice-cream for dessert.
  6. Singing Carols around the tree – the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear
  7. Red Cups – I’m a sucker for Starbucks, gimme a gingerbread latte and I’ll love you forever
  8. Christmas PJ’s… it’s one of our traditions to get new PJ’s fro Christmas Eve each year

What are your favourite things about Christmas time??
