Come & Wean with us

Weaning is an exciting time, but it can also be daunting. If you’re a first time Mum, the thought of introducing food to your baby can be a little overwhelming. Knowing when to start, and what to offer, the right textures to give and adding new flavours to your baby can seem like a huge big task! I love weaning – it’s such a fun time, and after four children I really know what I’m doing and am confident enough to trust my instincts and follow my babies lead. Sometimes it isn’t all plain sailing – maybe your little one doesn’t like what you offer them! The key is to remember that weaning is about trying things – it really doesn’t matter how much your baby eats right now – they’re learning and figuring things out!

SMA® Nutrition are running a ‘Come & Wean with Us™’ campaign, that aims to help new and first-time mums through the tricky but exciting stage of weaning. They have produced a series of recipe videos that will help to guide you through each stage of weaning.

Vega loves food! He really does. He hasn’t refused a single thing that I’ve offered him yet! I make him his own food in bulk that I keep in the freezer, as well as offering him some of what we eat if it suitable, and lots and lots of finger foods. He is exclusively breastfeed, but I have used formula sometimes in the recipes that I have made for him as I haven’t gotten in the habit of expressing and those little cartons of ready mixed milk are perfect!

As part of this campaign, Vega and I will be testing out SMA’s recipe for Fish Pie. Now, we don’t eat much fish thought I have made fish dishes for Vega before and he likes them, so I’m confident he’ll enjoy this recipe too!

I’ll be back with a post and video showing how we got on making the fish pie, and most importantly what Vega thought of it!

What finger foods have you tried? So far ive tried cheese sticks which he loves, biscotti biscuits, butterd toast soldiers.

I tried chopped up hard boiled eeg but my son seemed to struggle with that so possibly the texture. Carrot sticks he wasnt too keen on.

he pretty much eats anything – veg sticks, toast, homemade wedges, cheese, salad stuff… whatever we’re having really!
