Ladies {and gents} who lunch

It’s not often we go out mid-week for a meal, so when we were invited last week to go and test out the new menu at The Beeches we were all pretty excited. It was a good excuse for a day off work. We hopped on the bus as it’s in a village just out of town. It’s not somewhere we’ve been before, but they’ve just had some refurbishment work done and it was looking very lovely.

We were a little early, but our table was ready for us and the staff were really smiley and helpful… there have been times we’ve been made to feel a little uncomfortable taking four kiddos out for a meal, but we were made to feel very welcome.

The girls were very excited by the Horrible History kids menus. There was a huge selection of kids meals for them to choose from and they got to pick the two sides that htey wanted. While the bigger two girls are rpetty good eaters, Baya is fussy and eating out is sometimes tricky, but they had a pizza on there and chips and garlic bread so she was happy! There were also some bigger kids meals for older kids who wanted a bigger portion but not quite a whole adult meal.

The adults menu had a good selection of meals too… not huge but I think that’s often a good thing. To big a choice makes picking really ahrd! The choices here were all really great sounding meals, I finally opted for the Paprika Chicken while G went for a steak.

The kiddos got colouring books and crayons to keep them busy whilst we waited for our food to arrive. The restaurant was pretty busy, but I don’t think we waited more than 20 minutes for our order to arrive… and oh boy was it all tasty! All the food was amazing, and the portions just the right size. SOmetimes restaurants give you giant portions and you either eat too much or waste lots. We were full when we’d finished, but not stuffed… adn with just enough space to squeeze in a dessert!

Baya had a build your own scary face ice-cream, Kiki a cookie cup and Lola had a ‘graveyard horror’!! I picked the Lemon Cheesecake and G had a banoffee pie.

Overall we were really impressed – the pub itself was lovely, the food delicious and the staff super friendly. We’ll certrainly be going back soon! On a side note… funnily enough when I was talking to a friend after we’d been, it turned out that her husband used to live there when it was still a private house!

We were compensated for the cost of our meal, but all words and opinions are our own

That’s a very familiar sight from our recent holiday in Gippsland, where we had fish and chips in a small in on a hot September day!

The main difference is that you and your children were eating in much more comfort than we did! We had to eat on small plastic tables with no plates – but it was still an enjoyable meal and holiday for me.
