A Moment in Time

I have this big metal box that is full of photographs. Some from when I was little and through my teens, some of G’s photos and some from our life together. One of my girls favourite things to do is to rake through that box, looking at all the old photos, spotting people they know, giggling at how funny we looked in ‘the old days’ and how little they once were.

I remember doing much the same when I was little, spending endless hours flipping through the photo albums. It’s the magic power that photos hold, taking us back to that moment in time and reliving the memories. Nothing beats finding a long forgotten about photo to take you back to a special moment.

Photobox.co.uk asked me to share a special moment with you. One of my favourite photos that we have is of the two of us on our wedding day. We acutally eloped to Gretna Green, just the two of us. No fuss, no drama, no big expenses. It’s one of my favourite memories of all time. It was what a wedding should be about – the two actually getting married. We spent the weekend in a B&B, exploring the local area, drinking champagne and chilling.

We only have a couple of snapshots from our wedding – so they are all the more precious. It was a huge turning point in my life. Having spent the previous few years fighting eating disorders and depression, the day we got married marked day one of a new life for me. Little did we know there was a teeny tiny baby in my tummy that day!

Hey Polly.. I LOVE that you eloped. That’s the best kind of wedding I think too, one day in your life just about you two, no family infighting about who was invited or dresses or seating plans…… dont get me wrong I LOVED our wedding and we didn’t do anything traditional but still. You both look so innocent. At a beginning. As you indeed were. Thanks for sharing, as always x

This is so sweet. I love that you eloped! It’s so sweet *gushing so hard right now* !! Photos really are so wonderful, and I often find myself doing the same thing. I had all my photos in a couple of ridiculous little Harry Potter and Lisa Frank boxes for years, and they were in the perfect piles. I only recently took them out because I was getting ready to move, so I bought a nice photo album to put them in. hahaha Those boxes were almost as important as the photographs in some ways. xx
