Best ideas for decorating a baby’s nursery

If you think having a baby is stressful – try planning and decorating the nursery before the little one’s even arrived! With so many cots, bouncers, rocking chairs, storage, and lighting options to consider, such as the hundreds found on the Lampcommerce website, as well as choosing the right colour scheme (imagine how hard that is if you don’t even know what you’re having), it can be very overwhelming to say the least.

To help relieve some of your worries, here are a few of the best tips in helping you decorate your baby’s perfect home nursery:

Do it together

This is a great way of getting your partner involved in the pregnancy too and is one of the more enjoyable parts of having a baby (apart from having the little one themselves), so what better way than to experience it together. It also makes sense because as ever , two pairs of hands and minds are always better than one!

Colourful carpets and accessories

Often, parents opt for more neutrally colours, especially as mentioned above, when they haven’t decided to find out the baby’s gender. If so, one way to brighten up the room and give it some personality is by adding colourful carpets or even a statement rug. Other options could be buying cuddly toys and blankets for the cot that lives up the room. Colourful little accessories are sure to add a sparkle to the and although a baby won’t know the difference between black, white, red or yellow, as they grow older and begin recognising colours, they’ll find some comfort from the brightness in the room and it will create a safe, cosy and welcoming environment.

Test your textures

As your child gets older, they will begin to physically feel around for the difference in textures in the room. A great idea for parents is to choose laminate flooring (very easy to clean), with perhaps a shaggy rug and pictures or canvases on the wall. Textures create an almost unknown feeling in a baby’s mind, but also look great together too!

Stay down to earth

As said, neutral colours are among the biggest trends for a baby’s room. That means less of the traditional pinks, blues, and yellows, and more of the earthy greys and beiges. Different shades of natural colours won’t overwhelm a child and will also create comfort, particularly if the colour scheme follows the trend of the rest of the rooms in the house. Too much change will often confuse a baby and cause some discomfort and distress, leading to a bad night’s sleep!

Keep it natural

Staying on the theme of keeping things natural, it’s often a habit that we like to paint our wooden chest draws and cupboards. Not all wood needs to be painted. If you do buy a wooden wardrobe or rocking chair for your baby’s nursery, keep it natural, leaving the room feeling grounded. It will be less work for you and keep the warm and friendly feeling inside.

Look at the bigger picture

Although it’s hard to not get carried away buying everything baby – be mindful when decorating your baby’s room. We all know how quickly they grow up, and it won’t be long until they outgrow their room depending on how you’ve designed it. Not only is decorating expensive, but also a lot of hassle and time. You don’t want to be having to revamp your child’s room every six months, so make sure that you carefully plan the important stuff such as the colours and furniture, before investing in the fancy things like the wall art and Disney wallpaper.
