Living Room Refresh

Cushions 1,2,3 // Storage Basket // Mirror
Rug // Tealight Holder // Throw

We’ve had endless grey skies, rain and freezing temperatures this past week. With a newborn in the house, we’ve been spending alot more time at home, and honestly, I’m slightly sick of the sight of these four walls. Our house is pretty small, especially now there are six of us, and it doesn’t get much sunlight into the living room this time of year. As I seem to be spending hours on end sat on the sofa under a nursing baby, I’ve been hating my living space more and more. While we’re hoping to find a bigger house and move sometime this year, I knew I needed to make a few small changes right now so that I don’t go stir crazy lol

I’ve been doing a little decluttering {actually make that a lot}, getting rid of the things we don’t need/use/like any longer – it’s amazing how fast you can build up clutter! I’ve also been moving a few things around to make the most of what little space we have. I’ve a few things on my ‘to buy’ list that will hopefully brighten up the space.

1// New cushions – we badly need some new cushions, ours are all old and flat and a little bit ‘bleurgh’ – I’m loving the prints on these three, and especially the blue/green colours

2// Storage is essential in a small house, I love this little basket – I want to find something like this to keep Vega’s toys in in the living room

3// I’m planning on purchasing a mirror to put over our fireplace. As I mentioned, the living room is pretty dark, it relies on the light shining in from the dining room, which is fine in the summer, but at the minute when sunshine is pretty non-existent it means that we’re sat in a dull room all day. I’m hoping a mirror will help reflect a little extra light around the room

4// Rug – I have this rug at the moment, but I’m not really loving it anymore… I’m on the lookout for something, though I’m not quite sure what – do like this H&M one though…

5// Tealight holder – I’ve been moving things around, and re-doing my mantle, and want something like this to put on there to add a little soft light when I’m sat with Vega in the evenings

6// Throws – I desperately want new sofas, but that has to wait until after we move house, so I’m planning on buying a couple of new throws to cover them up a little

I’m trying to stay of Pinterest – I end up spending hours drooling over light filled, perfect houses and hate my little space even more!!

How fab is H&M for homewares? I’ve eyed up that basket so many times!

Isn’t it funny how the nesting stage makes you change stuff before the baby comes, but actually, you need an army of slaves to nest for you after six weeks of sofa based baby feeding when you want to tear down the wallpaper with your teeth!

This sounds familiar – I feel your pain. When you’re marooned on the sofa breastfeeding you have too much time to contemplate the four walls! I love the fresh colour palette and ethnic prints of these picks!

I was only looking around our living room last night and thinking that it’s my least favourite room in the flat as it just feels a little unfinished and boring! Love your picks- it’s amazing what a difference a few little changes can make! x
