Festive Snow Jars

We’re hoping for a White Christmas this year… last year was a little disappointing on the snow front, and the big kiddos are desperate to be able to go sledging! I remember loving playing in the snow when I was little, my big brother pulling me around the field on the sledge and building snowmen.

While I won’t be doing much sledging this year, I figured I’d bring a little snow indoors. Taking my inspiration from all of the beautiful snow globes that are around, I made these pretty festive snow jars – they’ll spend Christmas in the centre of my mantle piece, and being water-less they can easily be re-purposed next year.

Supplies// I used some Jam Jars I picked up at a hardware shop – you can easily re-purpose ones you have laying around the house too. Light blue transparent glass paint, some fake snow and mini trees and deer I picked up on eBay.

One// First off, I painted the jars with the glass paint. It gave it a little hint of blue, and made it all a little ‘blurry’ – kinda like you’re in a snow storm! Leave them to dry {some glass paints require you to bake the jars in the oven to set the paint, so check your instructions}

Two// Hot glue your trees + deer and anything else you have for your jar to the base or lid – I mixed it up a little.

Three// Add in your fake snow – the kind I bought had glitter already in, if yours doesn’t add some silver glitter too for added sparkle.

Four// I left the lid of the big jar that had the deer on the base, I added a little glue around the rim and sprinkled some of the fake snow on it. I also dabbed a little glue on the inside of some of the jars here and there so that a little of the snow would stick to the sides.
