According to a recent survey by Sainsbury’s, almost half of us (47%) make a big event of wrapping Christmas presents, ensuring that the same care is taken on its presentation as the actual choosing of the gift. Wrapping Christmas presents is all part of the fun and build up to the festive season so forget store-bought paper this year, below are some crafty ways to make your Christmas gifts stand out above the rest:

Personalised gift bags

Turn a plain paper bag into something fabulous this Christmas with Homecrafts. Get the kids involved by letting them draw or paint Santa Claus or a Christmas tree on the front. Alternatively you can add glitter, stickers, shapes and buttons to the front, along with a personalised gift tag.

Use festive stamps

Jazz up some red or green coloured wrapping paper with some festive stamps. A gift wrapped in a one-of-a-kind hand stamped paper is certainly going to make your loved ones feel extra special. You can also buy stamps with festive words on so why not create your own gift tags too?

Keep it simple with kraft paper

One of the biggest wrapping trends in recent years is brown kraft paper. It makes the perfect Christmas gift wrap being cheap and recyclable, it matches everything and you can either choose to keep it plain or customize it with marker pens, stickers and stamps. Finish it off by tying some colourful string or festive ribbon around it, add a personalised tag and voila, it’s good to go!

Add paper flowers

For something a little different, layering cupcake cases within one another is a great way to create a blooming good touch to a present. With a few simple folds and twists, and a little glue, you can create these fluffy blooms in no time at all, using any colours you wish. Alternatively, you can be really fancy and add sprigs of real rosemary and pepperberry.

Use a newspaper

Start collecting parts of the newspaper in the lead up to Christmas, collate all the festive related stories and turn them into wrapping paper! For children’s presents you could use pages from their favourite magazines or cut out photos of their favourite celebrities!

Wrap with a story

Why not wrap your family’s gifts using pages from a classic Christmas novel? You can pick up cheap books in charity shops and online, or you may just have some books lying around that you forgot you had. This is the perfect touch and really shows you’ve gone the extra mile.

According to a report in the Haverhill Echo last year, the average person in the UK is expected to wrap at least 30 gifts at Christmas, spending an average of 10 minutes per present. That’s at least five hours wrapping for each one of us over the festive period so why not make it worthwhile and ensure your loved ones are truly impressed with their gifts both inside and out?
