Maternity Series – Week 31
Nine
I’ve finished decorating his nursery – just need Papa to measure up and put a piece of carpet down {hint hint}. We have most things that we need for him, just one or two bits to pick up. I need to think about packing a ‘hospital bag’ – although I’m booked in for a homebirth, it’s still easy to have everything I need for labour and after together in one place. Means Papa can just grab it for me instead of searching for each thing, and if I do need to go into hospital, I have everything ready!
Beastie seems to favour having a foot sticking out of my belly button… the girls think it’s really funny! We’re getting impatient to meet him now, I’m definitely ready to be done being pregnant!

October 21, 2014 at 21:46Wow, I remember 31 weeks being a really nice stage and as you said last chance for him to move around before he gets too big :)

October 21, 2014 at 22:32I packed a hospital bag and I’m so glad I did. Although I got my beautiful, calm homebirth, I transferred a few hours afterwards because the midwives were unsure of what degree my tear was. We ended up staying for various reasons and it was just so handy already having everything we needed. I figured beforehand that even if we didn’t transfer, packing it would mean we knew where all the various bits were.

October 22, 2014 at 11:06India’s homebirth didn’t go to plan and I ended up in hospital (for all of 2 minutes before she was born!!) so I agree on the hospital bag!! 31 weeks – still can’t believe that!

October 22, 2014 at 14:27I was a real stick in the mud about the hospital bag. People told me to pack one ‘just in case’ but I was so adamant about my home birth I felt packing one would jinx it so I didn’t. As you know I didn’t need one but Tom told me afterwards he had secretly put a few things aside! lol xx
