Life, Lately

The kiddos are getting back into some projects/school type work. Working out what we want to study this term outside of english/maths/science basics. Adding in some great art projects from these fab books. I’m aware that next term we’ll have a baby around and things might not be so easy to accomplish! We’ve been testing out a couple of fab science kits this week – a build your own kaleidoscope and a crystal growing set. I love kaleidoscopes, and it was fun having an easy kit with everything we needed to make our own, especially for littler kiddos. The crystal making studio proved fun – getting to build a citrine sun – we currently have it in the window watching the crystals growing! Kits like these are great for mini-science projects for homeschoolers or just for extra-out-of-school learning opportunities.
Thursday we met friends in Delemere for a play in the woods and some den building. After a stressful morning it was much needed. First I lost my railcard, cried at the train station and had to pay double for train tickets so I could travel without said railcard. Then I realised I’d got my times muddled up and we were an hour later than we should have been for meeting friends for the second train… still, we made it in the end and I calmed down!
This week I’ve really felt pregnant and emotional. Cried at the drop of a hat. I woke up Sunday morning with an overwhelming urge to re-decorate the entire house. The house that has all been re-decorated in the past year. Am trying to pick a colour for the kitchen {please go tell me what colour you think!}. The new flooring for the kitchen is here and waiting for Papa to get home from a weekend away to lay it. I’m also trying to pick out a colour for the bathroom, waiting on getting a new window before I paint that room! I painted it a dark duck egg colour six months ago, and while I love the colour, it’s proved to dark for the room – so looking for a lighter, brighter colour in there also.
Papa is away at Festival No.6 this weekend, on another boys weekend. The kiddos and I don’t have too much planned…. gymnastics tomorrow and then perhaps a picnic on Sunday if the weather is nice. Next week sees all the kiddos groups restart after the summer break, so I have a feeling by the next weekend we’re all going to be exhausted! I still can’t believe that it is September already… the end of the year and this baby are going to arrive before I know it!

September 6, 2014 at 18:39Hello! I’ve found your blog through the weekend blog hop and I’m so glad that I have as it’s fab. I really enjoyed reading this round up from your last week and can sympathise with you crying at the drop of a hat, I was absolutely the same in my second trimester! The little science kits sound great, they remind me of a microscope I had as a child which I loved. I’m sure your kiddos love them too =)
Fingers crossed the sun shines for your picnic tomorrow xx

September 6, 2014 at 22:11Sounds like you need to take more of a break and put your feet up, not do more decorating! Love your pictures :)

September 6, 2014 at 22:16Oh dear hormones can be cruel can’t they. I think we have to just go with their flow and try not to worry about it too much!
As for decorating…where do you get all your energy?

September 7, 2014 at 08:09We’re trying to settle back into a routine but it’s not easy after such a relaxing Summer – we all seem to just be tired and grumpy at the moment.
I like soft cream or pink harmony for the kitchen x x

September 7, 2014 at 11:07Wow you have had a busy summer – not sure I would allow hubby to go away on another festival without me lol! Good luck with the decorating

September 7, 2014 at 18:43Oh I would say never decorate when you are pregnant. I was daft enough to insist husbeast painted the fence blue – bollcocks it was terrible and once I was unpregnant mI promptly made him paint it again!

September 7, 2014 at 20:16Sounds like you have had a busy week! Hopefully things will get a little easier once you have that routine back in place. I can totally sympathise with the being emotional as when I was pregnant I was exactly the same! Make sure you find time to relax xx

September 7, 2014 at 21:58Get that paint slapped on! The only time I managed to get my own way with the decorating was when I was pregnant!

September 8, 2014 at 09:10I’m trying to sleep off the summer mode too – I’m normally up at around 6am, these days it’s been about 8:30 – which, believe me, is late for me :D
Hope your hormones settle down soon! x

September 10, 2014 at 00:44I know what you mean about trying to find a routine – it’s been go go go for the past few weeks and trying to get things sorted before going away on holiday – I am kinda looking forward to all the calm (well sort of) again

September 10, 2014 at 20:12Oh I’m really interested to see if your crystal kit worked. My son was desperate to get one and we bought him one from the Science Museum in London – a different make to this one – and it didn’t work at all. He was so disappointed. So I hope yours does, it sounds like they are already growing…

September 13, 2014 at 10:12Busy busy busy! I do love September but the struggle to get back into a routine is hard enough without a growing bump & leaving a fab summer behind! September though – how did THAT happen?!
