Gecko’s Hatchlings Cotton Staples

I wanted to share with you this great kickstarter campaign. Gecko Clothing make ethically produced, environmentally friendly clothes that are affordable.

Gecko work by 4 principles :

1. Bright & bold unisex designs;
2. Ethical & eco-friendly;
3. Practical & hard-wearing;
4. That don’t cost the earth!

They are trying to fund their children’s line of clothing.. With four gorgeous organic staples to begin with, available in a variety of sizes and colours, and with two great designs.

The children’s line will have the Sheep Poo™ hangtag outlining our credentials and will be accompanied by wild seed paper to promote the support of the dwindling bee populations. This will link back to more information on how we can help the bees. Kids can then simply plant the paper and grow some wild flowers, providing food and shelter for a host of insects and animals, including the humble bee. This could be the first step for many children in helping them understand and begin working with the environment, ensuring that our varied ecosystem is functioning for generations to come.

A little more about them, in their own words:
Gecko is the spawn of Emma and Ryan Davidson to test the true boundaries of marriage. Both having lived in North Wales (UK) share a love of the outdoors and a good challenge.
Ryan throws words, images and code at the page in the hope that something interesting comes out the other end. Considering changing his nickname to “1,000,000 monkeys on typewriters”. In other words: Ryan is the designer and IT guy.
Emma takes care of everything else with some occasional nodding and approving from Ryan.’
‘Gecko is about bringing together great new vibrant, bright eyed and bushy tailed designs with ethical and environmentally friendly sourced and manufactured clothing, which can keep up with you in your challenges: “Threads for any plan you’re hatching.”
All this is packaged in merriment and brought to you from the beauty of North Wales, the home of Gecko, a land we are very proud to be from and wish to support by buying local and supporting the local and Welsh economy and small business where possible.
For the future – we hope to maintain a relaxed and friendly attitude, infusing fun and a sense of adventure into Gecko as we grow.

We have just been shortlisted for Inspire Wales Award based on the products we have been designing, for which we are very proud. Like all good start ups we have VERY limited capital! We have a fair few exciting and different, dare we say it, sustainable products that we are trying to fund. In the meantime, to start momentum, test the market and just get out there we have launched our organic cotton wardrobe staple range through Kickstarter. We have less than 20 days to raise our target of £1800, and as Kickstarter is all or nothing crowd funding if we don’t make £1800 we will see none of the money raised as none of the pledger will be charged! It’s a scary concept once you make the leap and put your project live!!

They need to raise £1800 by the 8th of June, currently they are at about the halfway mark. Please, please go support them if you can – you can pledge as little as £1, if you pledge £10 or more you will receive an item of the children’s clothing when it is launched {see there kickstarter page for more details}. Visit their Kickstarter page today and help them out!
