Gingerlily – luxury silk bedding

Gingerlily Bed

It’s only once you become a parent that you stop taking a good night’s sleep for granted. I used to sleep like a log, nothing bothered me and I could sleep no matter what. Over the past eleven years, I can probably count on two hands the number of full nights sleep I have had. While the girls don’t often wake me up in the night these days, I get struck by bouts of insomnia. I’ve been on a mission to find out how I can get a better night’s sleep. Personally, I don’t like to be cold at night, yet give me too heavy a duvet and I’ll toss and turn all night too. Add that to an uncomfortable mattress and you have a recipe for disaster!

I recently came across Gingerlily – who are specialists in luxury silk bedding. Silk is luxurious on your skin, hypo-allergenic and can help you sleep better! Silk is the ultimate breathable material: it helps regulate your body temperature so you stay warm in winter and cool in summer or too cold through the night. Silk too is the perfect answer if you suffer allergies – I find feather pillows/duvets make me sneeze all night long. Quality bedding, such as duvets , pillows and mattress toppers really can make an enormous difference to the quality of your sleep. We currently have a memory foam mattress topper and find it makes us hot, so a silk one would be a perfect alternative.

I was also surprised to read that silk contains amino acids, helping hair retain its moisture, keeping it shiny and smooth and has been attributed with helping to keep facial lines at bay! A better nights sleep AND waking up looking your best – sounds good to me!

Gingerlily also produce a range of silk nightwear. Beautiful nightdresses, dressing gowns and even slippers. I’m in love with the nightdress above – it’s a vast improvement on my current pj’s! I’d feel like a movie star lounging around in something this luxurious. Silk nightwear is also lightweight, hypo-allergenic and can help regulate your body temperature. They also offer men’s nightwear so your other half can look just as stylish as you!

I remember having a silk nightie when I was little and I loved it! I found a duvet cover in cough Ikea cough that I fell in love with and it was so silky and I can imagine how refreshing it would feel to sleep under rather than cotton!

I read somewhere that using silk pillowcases helps prevent wrinkles, which sounds good!

Oh my goodness. Absolute bedding envy. I have promised myself that I will buy beautiful bedding one day! That and really luxurious PJs! I think my husband would like those silk PJs a little too much though to be honest
