Decorating different rooms around the house and updating the furniture can sometimes feel like a real effort, and the work and cost involved can sometimes be enough to put you off and put up with what you have.

But during their childhood, there will be a number of times over the years when you need to redecorate or refurbish the children’s bedrooms. And as changing everything in a bedroom can be a pretty costly project, it’s great to know that you can achieve a brand new look for their bedroom simply by picking some classic items of furniture in the first place. Then you can easily change different accessories and soft furnishings to give their room a quick and easy makeover without actually needing to change the bigger items of furniture. The kids will think that their new look bedroom is great, and you’ll have achieved it all without leaving too much of a dent in the household budget.

We’re able to achieve this as there is some beautiful and well-manufactured furniture for children’s bedrooms today, and many of the essential items like beds and wardrobes can suit the youngest children but still be fine for them when they are teenagers. And there are also some amazing choices when it comes to accessories for kids’ rooms.

Take a look at the http://www.gltc.co.uk blog for instance for some great ideas on how to personalise a child’s room to fit whatever it is that they’re into. For instance there are some fantastic wooden storage shelving units that can be accessorised with canvas drawers in a whole range of prints and designs. There are styles to suit toddler boys and teenage girls and vice versa. You can choose to have all the drawers matching or pick a mixture of designs to give the storage unit an eclectic and colourful look.

While these drawers might be used to stash away big piles of Duplo at first, they can be used to put all the Barbie bits and pieces as your child’s tastes in toys change. And later on, they can be used as extra clothing storage space – always useful, especially if you have a teenage girl! And for kids who share a room, you can easily divide a unit like this between them to give them their own space to store things. You could even set them a little challenge to see who keeps their side the tidiest!

Other easy ways to change the entire look of a room include the soft furnishings that you choose. A new set of bed linen and a new pair of curtains can give a room a real lift, and these are things that can be changed in minutes. It also allows a girl to move out of her princess phase or a boy who’s grown out of pirates or trains to get a more grown-up feel to their room without requiring a complete refurbishment! Accessories like cushions, beanbags and rugs can also be updated to fit with your children’s taste. Check out the different styles available at GLTC and follow them on Facebook so you know when any promos or sales are coming up.

The more choice you can allow your child about how the room is going to look the better as it shows you value their opinions. But giving their bedroom a makeover is a fun project you can share with your kids at any age.

I love GLTC. We have a little wooden pram from them that Elle uses as storage for all of her cuddly toys in that sits in the corner of her room. Great double use for it :) x

Storage is such an issue for us at the moment. How can the smallest people in the house have the most stuff?!

haha!! I’m always saying that – we decluttered when we re-decorated the girls rooms at the end of last year, now they’re overflowing with toys :/ sure they multiply over night!

I really like the room specially those wooden storage shelves. Those shelves are having lots of space and even looking quite decorative too. Keep sharing such posts.
