Memory Jars

memory Jars

If you are anything like my family, then on every walk that you take, you end up coming home with a pocket full of ‘treasure’… stones, shells, feathers, acorns, pretty flowers, leaves…. between me and my three kiddos, every shelf in our house is scattered with pretty treasure! I love all the pieces that they collect, and what their minds view as ‘treasure’ – but there is only so much shelf space to keep it all on.

These little treasures hold special memories, of places we went, people we saw, all those fun times we spent as a family. We put together these memory jars full of treasures from our summer. Stones from the river, shells from the seaside, feathers that floated down in front of us. We added a few of our favourite memories written on strips of paper also. They are the perfect way to keep special treasures all together and to store those memories for years to come. It means that you are more likely to remember where and when you found the treasure.

I think these jars would be great to gift – treasures your children collected with their grandparents? Memories from a weekend at your sister’s house? A collection of treasures you found whilst enjoying a picnic with friends? Written notes make it extra special, as does a small photograph.

Oh I love this idea sweet! I have a box under my bed that I place anything I’m given or find but these little jars look so much prettier! :)

This is a brilliant idea! We DO come home with treasures after each walk, and especially when we go somewhere new to hike, or beach to swim. We will certainly be doing this in the future!
